IWS fulfills your water operator needs for any Type II business that has no treatement or treatment with water softeners or chlorination systems.
Which businesses require a water operator?
As part of your licensing through EGLE or the Health Department of Northwest Michigan, you may be required to have a certified water operator as part of your management team. If you are unsure, here are the requirements:
- If your business provides water to at least 25 of the same people for at least 6 months or more a year.
- Examples include schools, daycares, and office buildings with their own water system.
OR
- If your business provides water to at least 25 people per day for more than 60 days per year, but does not serve the same 25 people for more than 6 months a year.
- Examples include hotels, restaurants, campgrounds, gas stations and churches.
